My apologies to my readers for keeping quiet for quite some time. I have started a new job elsewhere and yes, I have been extremely busy....and stressed. I've got my linchen synflex to prove the stress that manifested in skin rash form if anybody were to doubt what I had just said.

Nevertheless, I'm determined to start writing again. It may not be as frequent...but I'll try.

Thank you for the e mails and the kind words and encouragement for me to continue with this blog.

I shall be back....till then...I think I'll go tend to my rash first :-)

To all those who thinks Hudud Law is cool....

I dedicate this post to those, especially women (especially women from the COWs species), who is in favor of Islamic Hudud law. We are going to die soon at some point of our lives. Ask yourselves, is this the Malaysia that we are going to let our children and their children inherit from us? Ask yourselves in all honesty before you sign up ergo convict the future generation to this so called God's law, do you understand enough of what constitutes "hudud" and is it really God's law?

Ask yourselves, if you daughters, God forbid, gets raped, then charged and jailed simply because she cannot come up with 4 witnesses to prove her innocence, can that ever be God's law? Is this justice? Do not proclaim that "God is fair" then turn around and claim a law from Him that proves He is not.

Ask yourselves again.. are you living right? Is the path you've taken, shoved down to you since birth without choice is the actual path Allah had prescribed? Have you at least once, read the message of God Himself, the Quran, on your own instead of trusting what information attributed to God, to know the difference between His actual words and the words created by humans and attributed to Him so that some kind of control can be established. You should, because at the end of the day, non of those people who proclaim authority of Islam have any responsibility of answering FOR you. That responsibility is ON yourself.

One word about "apostasy". Well, maybe a few....I think the people who came out with this was probably bored having their heads swimming in their own feces whilst their heads were were having a field trip high up in their own asses. They are spending waaaaay too much time there it's no wonder if you walk into the Religious department for any work to get done, most of them are hardly there. They are almost always out on some kind of courses...probably intercourse to accommodate for the propagate forth Islamist agenda I reckon...but, that's just my speculation.

I don't know which part of the "no compulsion" these guys have trouble registering in those sad excuse of a human brain...

But observing the state of the Muslims all around the world today, I reckon the only thing we can ever invent would be massive output of mutual farts from our fart-was, but then I would best stop here because I have digressed.

Man in the Mirror....

I love George carlin. He had this talent of delivering deep and meaningful messages (well deep to those who have the capability and desire to ponder upon them), in a package of hilarious presentation. Then again, he was a stand up comedian. Tough job if you ask me. I think today, the only people who can actually make you ROFLOL (that's cyber language for "Roll onto floor laughing out loud" for those of you born in BD, before dinosour, and baffled) would be the politicians.

But listen to this one. Are the politicians comedian by choice, or by chance, or perhaps both? I mean, come to think of it, WE put them there via our democrasy process. Perhaps it is us , the rakyat who deserve to be the jokers who put the politically inclined bigger jokers where they are today to give us mother of all entertainment.

So if we, the rakyat are the people responsible for today's politicians, let's take a closer look at us.

Michael Jackson sang "Man in the Mirror" and people sang along and dance along. But how many actually understood his simple message. Most of us don't even have time except for a quick glance in the mirror on the way to exit through the door in our daily rush to work, just enough time to check whether there is no food particles stuck in our teeths and hairs from sleeping on the dining table due to extreme exhaustion from our daily routine. (well, this could happen especially to career mothers with 4 children for example).

Take a look at how we drive on the road for instance. Take a look at how we go about in our daily dealings with the people around us. Ponder earnestly on these. Ask ourselves this question and answer it sincerely and honestly, "How do I see myself in the mirror?". Am I the one bribing the authorities, the politicians et al, just to get my project executed so that I can make more money to bribe more people along the way to making myself rich? Am I the one who, although did not do something selfish like that , but keeps reticent when I encounter such things happening within the family or to the people I know? Am I the one who likes to put down nasty comments on the blogs and facebook , joining the choir of condemnation of say bribary issues yet feels very happy when I get as many hampers during the celebrative seasons? Am I giving those opinion based on what I think is the right thing or is it because it is the right thing for me and my interest? Do I support and vote for the politicians because they can get the job done right and clean, or do I support and vote for them because again, they take care of my personal interest?

Ever heard of the "Indian Crab Story"? One of my closest Indian buddy use to narrate this to me sometime back when we had the time to sit around after work and enjoy a cup of teh tarik and the complimentary time to bitch about the world. Crabs get on top of each other to surface from the gutter and in the end, the pile of struggling crabs falter in totality. Doesn't this sound familiar? Perhaps Darwin got sidetracked with the amount of hair monkeys have and thought humans evolved (if ever at all) from them. Perhaps Darwin is half right. Perhaps he overlooked that some humans may have evolved from crabs. I mean, some of us are incapable of walking in a straight path yet tells others to do so. And then there's that stepping on each others' heads to get somewhere. Ponder on this.

In the West, people help each other and together they progressed. Their culture is to nurture one another (with the exception of America's Capitalism if I may say so...now look at them). "Development" meant not just mere materialism, but also the development of human as a whole. In Malaysia for instance, our development is mostly covered in the aspect of materialism, and human development is not as a whole, but as a hole...a foetid sinkhole sometimes. I mean, we look at Saifool's case as a hole right? And what a busy hole it is. In short, we have neglected human development and today, cause and effect had taken it's toll. Majority, no longer do the right thing, but the right thing for them to gain personal interest.

So the next time you want to critisize the politicians, as a whole or hole, do me this favor. Stand in front of a mirror for 10 minutes, look at yourself in reflection and ask yourself, "Do I like what is staring back at me?"

Next Friday, September 16th, we celebrate our forty-eighth Hari Malaysia. On this day of Unity, let’s ask forgiveness for the hurts caused. And let’s celebrate by saying ‘thank you’ for the good things we have done for each other.
We have much to be thankful for. As a nation, we are many times richer today. Our poverty levels have been reduced to a minimal percentage. More than ninety percent of our people can now read and write. Death at infancy has been significantly reduced. And we have lined our cityscape with beautiful skyscrapers.

Yet, it will not be an exaggeration to say that many of us, brother and sister Malaysians, feel a sense of kecil hati. It seems as if we are a nation of wounded hearts.

Some of these feelings can be traced. As people living together while keeping our distinct cultures, our consciousness of race is sometimes higher than our national consciousness. Some of our hurts are somehow seen from a racial angle. Each community may feel as if our sacrifices have gone unappreciated. And each of us may respond by saying if we are not appreciated, we can also choose not to appreciate others.

But we cannot allow this tit-for-tat to go on. We need to turn the other cheek. We need to choose to be the bigger person. Somebody must mengalah.

The fact is, all of us have given a lot to make this country what it is today. This is our Malaysia; we built it together. This is a reality that no one can challenge or change.

This Hari Malaysia is a good time for us to say ‘sorry’ and to say ‘thank you’ to each other. Let’s make it a day to mend broken hearts.

DEAD FRIEND WALKING

In life there will always be that someone who will stay in your heart for as long as you can feel. He may not be the one you end up with, but a slightly special in relation .... a friendship platonic

I have such a person in my life. He was this sweet little boy I knew from teenage years and we were together as friends since then for as long as I can remember, at least in my heart. The guy who would tell me how he'd avenge someone for torturing the oppressed. The guy who I'd trade stories of adventures of raiding someone else's dusun in the kampung and us laughing about it. The guy who you can count on when you fall and hurt yourself to accompany you to the hospital when your parents are not with you. The sweet guy who would just listen to you blabbering about things that don't make sense and still think it's funny.

The guy who would make you laugh with stories of wedding crashings. The guy who don't really talk much about his feelings but you will know and feel it even when he said nothing at all. The guy who would give you silly ideas about living it wrong sometimes just to remember how to have fun during a time when everything in life seem too serious. The guy who would include you in the prosecution of silly things he did like stuffing gun powder in the spark plug and throwing it up into the air to produce this mother of all fire cracker sound.

The guy who'd had the talent of justifying the holes that that firework had left on the road. The person you you know even without looking that he will have a secret net waiting somewhere to catch your fall. The guy who you want him to be in your life as a true friend forever. The guy who you don't see for the longest time yet pick up where we left when we see each other a couple of years later.

Perhaps there is a reason why childhood friends should just remain childhood friends for simple reasons like, people grow, and they change. Sometimes, they change into someone you least expected. Perhaps I am a bit selfish in wanting to hold on to the memories of that sweet little boy I no longer see in this present grown up man my eyes are feasted upon. I clearly had ,in the past disregarded the little warning signs, dismissing them as false alarm. But when warning signs become actual danger, you are left with nothing but a cold cold heart, from the realization that, although you want the memories of that sweet little boy to hold on to for as long as you'd like to, truth is, it is time to move on.

It's hard to love a friend, when he is no longer there but just a fiction of your memory. All that stood in front of me is this grown man almost devoid of compassion, devoid of his inner child. One who makes you wonder, "what the hell did you do to my friend??". I look at him and miss the idea of him. It is even harder to admit to myself that I had lost him quite some time ago, somewhere along his way to prove to the world, that he can achieve all the material things life could offer. He just had forgotten that the reason why I loved him was because of that sweet little boy that was within him for as long as I could remember. That boy is dead now. Perhaps he never saw the friend in me. Perhaps I never know him at all. Funny that in life, when things go wrong, you are left in a discomforting abyss of perhaps.

And now I'm left with the painful memories of how he used to be, how we used to be. I know I'm being selfish, for wanting to cling on to that sweet memories so bad I became blinded by the fact that that boy was long dead. And it's just so hard to love a stranger who had possessed your friend. It's even harder to digest the fact that he was gone, longer than I had realized he had left me. Perhaps childhood friends should just remain during our childhood. At least it spares us the pain of watching them grow into complete strangers...

It's easier to mourn for the dead. But how do one mourn for a dead friend walking?

Bersih 2.0

And so the Bersih 2.0 came to town on 09th July 2011. On personal note, that event is going to go down on my "I should have done that" list, along with slapping the Minister of MisInformation for the way he conducted himself on the Al Jazeera. I wish for once we allow Ministers with IQ score at least more their age because ..really..listen to the last interview on Al Jazeera (back in 2007)!!! Is it any wonder that they did not call any Minister of MisInformation back for an interview???

Whilst some experienced a fairly peaceful demonstration like Marina Mahathir's experience that you can read HERE, others may not be as lucky.

I post you a first hand experience of a friend who prefers to remain anonymous and therefore I shall honor his wish...did I say "his"..oh sorry..it may be a "her"...who knows right?

Before that, I put my hats off and thank those who dared march a rally, even they knew the risks, but did it anyway for what they feel as betterment for our country. If there is a OneMalaysia portrayed that day, it's got to be at the Bersih 2.0 rally.

The government had handled Bersih 2.0 very poorly, steps taken way early from the event of Bersih 2.0 itself, included arresting people in yellow shirts. If the Digi customers ever wondered why the Digi transmission was poor if not interrupted, well, here's why:

Some police and demonstrators recognize that both parties are there because "they did what had to be done", and so they parted their separate ways peacefully and honorably.

Meanwhile, some Pre Bersih megalomaniac was struggling to get into his Super Zero outfit. Failing to do so,instead, many speculated that he protested against Bersih 2.0 by joining PM at the Putrajaya, at the launch of the National Cooperatives Day 2011, a sign according to the annointed PM, of protest against Bersih 2.0...

And here is the article from my friend, narrating from his personal experience :

Najib today " There was no actual physical contact with the demonstrators..." This by the way from a PM who made sure he was out of town when what can only be called a major national crisis was in the offing....

I went for the rally guys. And it was brutal. As the reports said, people were walking peacefully to the stadium but the FRU had blocked the road at Jalan Hang Jebat. So we turned to Jalan Pudu hoping to come in from Jalan Bukit Bintang. But the police had blocked Jalan Pudu as well. So everyone was hemmed in at Maybank. And the crowd swelled. There was no intention I believe to rally on the streets. There were repeated calls to head for the stadium but each and every time everyone was turned back. With everyone massed at the Maybank, Puduraya, Cahaya Suria intersection we were like hapless targets at a clay shoot.

And that I think was the intent. To keep everyone massed at one location so that they could a) claim it had become a street rally and b) Come in and brutalise an easy target.

They had planned for the violence from the outset, they had planned to herd the crowd like so much cattle into a pen, then storm in to beat abuse and ultimately intimidate people into suTbmission at one collective point. This from a supposedly democratic government. I saw despotism that day. Tyranny, barbarism. The only semblance of civil society was from the people massed there. Everyday individuals from all walks of life a lot of whom I spoke to. Teachers, Engineers. Not riff raff, notmalcontents. Everyday, decent Malaysians. Being herded to a fate planned for them by uniformed thugs as instructed by their masters who claim to govern us legitimately.

Once properly herded, the violence started. Not from the protesters who didn't so much as kick over a dustbin. Everyone was just milling around trying to figure out how to head for the stadium when they came in with tear gas and water cannon. And when people were running around helpless and screaming half blind and in pain they came in with their truncheons and started beating people up. Ten feet in front of me, I saw 5 count them 5 policemen pounce on this chap who was just standing there disoriented. They hit him repeatedly with their truncheons. That will leave a memory, the level of barbarism displayed. They were like rabid dogs attacking a hapless prey. And they were laughing and smiling as they swaggered about drunk with the power they felt they had over poor defenseless people.

The rest of the day was just more of the same. I managed to make it back to Petaling Street and tried to head back to the stadium but that avenue was still blocked off. And when we tried to head up Jalan Hang Jebat (irony there, heroes of our history witnessing cowardice of the highest order) the FRU started firing tear gas again. So we ducked down Jalan Sultan where we were blocked off at Pasar Seni. It was getting really ugly. They were just intent now on keeping protesters within the Petaling Street area. I was wondering why all the stores there were closed, every single one, and realised then that they must have been forewarned. It couldn't have been with the notice of the rally, these are hard core chinese traders who open 358 days in a year and shut down just those 7 days only for chinese new year. They were told...

Me and a small group of friends (Petra and Sheng were with me for awhile then we got separated) managed to duck into a Marrybrown chicken outlet and were then promptly locked in (before you laugh Pets was earlier locked into a McD). That light moment soon passed though as we witnessed right in front of us the police continually storming into the crowd and firing everything in their arsenal short of guns... Then going in and beating and arresting people. Laughing as they went about it....They didn't allow anyone out of the Petaling street area until they well and truly had their way with them. Only then did they back off and let people head out.....

It was an uplifting day to see people, everyday people come out and stand up for what they believed in. It brought down my levels of cynicism no end as I realised there were a lot of people who did not like the rot and weren't apathetic about it. But it was a depressing day to think that our government could stoop so low to hand and act so disgracefully all to ensure that they could continue to rule illegitimately.... We truly have an uphill task ahead of us.....

In my line of job, I had frequently come across depressed patients. Somehow, I never could quite really grasp the understanding of suicidal thoughts....all that changed when my ears were feasted upon what Dr Azlina Dato' Jamaluddin, head of the OWC (Obedient Wives Club) had to say..

Just in case you had just stepped out of the wormhole, and have not heard of OWC (Obedient Wives Club albeit I call them COWs, short for Club Obedient Wivessss...the "s" being plural to cater for their prerogatively polygamous way of life) they are a moooooooooo-vement born from women members of Global Ikhwan, who got together for "brain" storming sessions to counter the social ill of baby discarding and divorces.

You have to listen to this bizarre discussion, broad casted on BFM , (podcast form) HERE before embarking into what I have to say thereafter..

First and foremost, Dr Azlina said that the women of Global Ikhwan got together for brainstorming session, based on two problems they felt they needed to contribute to solve, that be the divorce incidence that is higher than the integrity of most of our politicians today, and the problem of discarded children.

Now, can someone please show me how to connect the dots between obeying your husband to retain the institution called "marriage" with solving the problem of discarding babies? These ladies must have had a nice tapai session before commencing discussions. Isn't discarding babies a problem of couples who are not married? Didn't we solve the problem by legalizing rape (underage engaging in sex, consensual or otherwise), in order to solve this rampant sex offenders and out of wedlock child problems? Hmm..had I known that being the auta-rities in this department is a job you won't need brains, I would have applied on part time basis, but oh, I digressed.

I won't touch much on the issue of being obedient to husband in order to save the marriage from a divorce, as Marina had done a good job doing so. Basically, in Dr Azlina's mind, I gather that, in order to keep a good statistics figure of successful marriage, it's the women who have to be subservient to the husbands, to a maximum extent and succumb to a leader-follower relationship, instead of companionship as pointed out by Marina. I suspect she may have gotten that idea whilst treating her depressed patient. After all, all drugged patients seemed happy on chill pills. But are they really happy? If so, why need the drug in the first place to stay "happy" if you really are genuinely happy? Here's another question. Should a happy marriage comprise of one spouse who sacrifice her happiness in order to make a "happy marriage"? Dr Azlina may want to look into the bottled up resentment problem as a long term consequences to conditioning oneself to be happy. Hmm.. suddenly "divorce" sounds more benign.

Frankly, after listening to the whole discussion, I cannot help but smile at the thought that although Dr Azlina may not have realized it, she got screwed live on radio BFM, even when she was not in the mood to have a screw. But surely, she must be happy if not relieved with it because after all, according to her, she did not get laknat from the malaikat (angels) and the whole universe all the way to dawn which she would have as she claimed, if she had refused to be screwed :-)

Dr Farouk however, struck a note when he pointed out that "God is being dragged into discussion all the time and you are quoting the surah from the Quran that is not even there". This to me is the very core to the problem of Dr Azlina and of many Muslims today. To me, the more she spoke, and thanks to the wisdom of Marina, who cornered her many a times, hence a spontaneous outburst of the line of thinking that unveiled her weakness in the fundamental teachings of Islam, the more that I am convinced that she is the victim of again, what Dr Farouk had pointed out , "Indoctrination" whereby people keep insisting such thing is in the Quran when it is not.

And that is why we need to ascertain facts before disseminating them, to prevent from spreading stupidity, lies and fitnah.

We won't know a wicked person until we know, so to be safe, check your sources before forwarding the news/facts. This method is to safeguard Islam from being manipulated.

Dr Azlina, kept claiming that God said this and that in her argument but had failed to substantiate the arguments with the surah or even hadith sources, well, except for the real weird ones like that claims "if God allowed another man to prostrate to another man, it would be a wife prostrating to her husband", (this hadith sounds very erm...masculine indeed), which she did not mention the source so that we can determine whether the hadith is sahih and mutawattir (authenticity). It makes a person wonder, where did she get all that information..or more precisely, disinformation, about Muhammad saying man prostrating to another man. In the Quran;

[41:37] "Among His proofs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate before the sun, nor the moon; you shall fall prostrate before the GOD who created them, if you truly worship Him alone."

Again, what is Dr Azlina trying to say? That God was not in the clear mind in the matter of prostration or that Muhammad too liked to do the thinking for God? Oh, I forgot..it wasn't what Dr Azlina was trying to say, but Muhammad trying to say. Or is it? Besides, even if Muhammad did say that, shouldn't Muhammad be telling that God will tell us to prostrate to our mothers first, "if He decided that man should start prostrating to man?". Wouldn't that make slightly more sense to the nonsense?

This reveals that what she said was based on what that had been indoctrinated into her, more than what she had discovered for herself say for example through research and reading. This is not surprising because the Malay culture is rich with trusting people who love to hear stories that are not verified, instead of reading them. After all, "penglipur lara" (the story teller) was in the Malay custom. So is it any wonder our society comprises of clueless people? God said in

[6:116] "Wert thou to follow the common run of those on earth, they will lead thee away from the way of Allah. They follow nothing but conjecture: they do nothing but lie."

And the worst part is that she kept insisting that what they are selling is kosher, that it is following the Quran and Hadith, when clearly it is not if anyone care to refer to the Quran instead of taking what is thrown to us at face value. That's clearly false marketing. Dr Azlina seem to be pulling out statements like Captain Cavement would pull out some gadget out of his thick burly body hair. Occasionally she mistakenly pulled out her nostril hair and inflicted self pain with her statements.

[3:94] If any, after this, invent a lie and attribute it to Allah, they are indeed unjust wrong-doers.

What? Are we suppose to trust you just because you said your way is the Islamic way? Hello kawan, this is the information era where you can obtain almost any information from under the sun, at the palm of your hands, and the gadget can vibrate too, talk about multitasking. Just because you are clad in the Arabic attire, just minus the camel, we are no longer stupid anymore lah. Righteousness is in Islam (submission to God), not in being Arabic. A difference you may want to ponder on. This saying stupid things and attributing them to God and the Prophet has GOT TO STOP.

It is killing the beauty of Islam and beauty is what attracts people to it's way of life, not lies and indoctrination and threats that leave humans no room to make mistakes and learn from them.
That is why in Islam there is no need for compulsion. The beauty will speak for itself, unless of course some dumb cows messes it up (pun not intended):

[2:256] Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.

Initially, the COWs blame the wives that the husband go to the prostitutes. To some extent, saying that a husband will look for another woman if he's not satisfied in bed with the Mrs would be true. I have friends who refuse to even budge from the mercenary position during love making with their respective husbands. How lar. Then again, there are husbands (and wives) who don't even know that G spots existed, even a GPS (G-spot positioning system) won't be able to assist them. In the end, sex becomes a chore rather than a bond to be enjoyed between spouses.

As for men going to prostitutes. Don't beat up yourself too much on that. When a man wants to just lie there and get serviced sexually too lazy to satisfy his partner, or when he cannot do certain things with his wife, well, fellatio for instance is after all prohibited in Islam, who better to tilth than a professional tilther who can tilth him back stupid? Why do you think there is a lot of unnecessary whipping going on in the Hudud Law, even though sometimes this is not found in the Quran? For COWs to tell the Mrs to become prostitutes to their respective husbands, its like telling them to drop their IQ below freezing point, because at least the prostitutes are smart enough to charge. Seriously...what were they thinking?

Had Dr Azlina known some basics in Islam, she may have a less complicated and a more logical outlook in life, and perhaps not be so enthusiastic about obeying her husband or being a first wife to a polygamous husband. Here's why.

1. Husband and wife are companion to each other and women and men are equal to the eyes of God (4:124, 16:97, 49:13, 33:35)

2. Polygamy is meant to be weaned off as I will show you later

So Dr Azlina, please stop insisting that God said the things He did not say before you end up being blasphemous. Stop selling dumb ideas and attribute it to God. Go learn about Islam first before you spread your version of "Islam". Stop being a parrot of the Islamists. You are just a mere tool, or in your case, one of the tools...the first tool out of the 4 tools your husband is using. O..o..oo...let me guess..your husband is the screw driver and his wives are the nuts? (pun not intended).

To elaborate the gender equality in Islam; here are some surahs and Dr Azlina would have also discovered this should she had taken the trouble to do some research instead of just being a gullible sponge for weird ideas of marriage. After all, even the blind have no excuse after the creation of Braille to rely upon reading as a better choice than to just listen to people narrating tales.

Surah 30:21:

"Among His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves, in order to have tranquility and contentment with each other. He places in your heart love and care towards your spouses. In this, there are signs for people who think."

As for sex between husband and wife:

[2:187] " Permitted to you, on the night of the fasts, is the approach to your wives. They are your garments and ye are their garments. "

Of course there is another ayat on women being the tilth,(2:223) my husband's favourite surah which would quote when he wanted to start....erm..tilthing me. Unfortunately for Dr Azlina, God did not say anything about whether the tilth can't deny the husband's cumming...oops ..I mean coming to her, but then I digress.

Now, back to surah 2:187, did God mention anything about men being the users and women the garments? No, both are garments to each other..so to say that if a woman is "not in the mooooooooood", then one have got to be gullible to buy the story that you would be serving Allah when you serve your husband when you are not up to it. If Allah had an actual head, He would most certainly be scratching it right now and wondered how did He got dragged in a threesome...err..threesome in thoughts of course. Hey..she said she have sex with her husband with God in her mind...don't look at me.

A leader-follower relationship, as suggested by our dear doctor, is suggestive that men and women are not equal in the eyes of God as opposed to the surahs 4:124, 16:97, 49:13, 33:35. Women!! Don't ever let anyone tell you that you are a lesser being than the men in the eyes of God!!

Ezra mentioned the surah 4:34, and yes, that was a stroke of luck for the confused doctor:

الرِّجَالُ قَوَّامُونَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَبِمَا أَنْفَقُوا مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ ۚ فَالصَّالِحَاتُ قَانِتَاتٌ حَافِظَاتٌ لِلْغَيْبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ اللَّهُ ۚ وَاللَّاتِي تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ وَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ ۖ فَإِنْ أَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُوا عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلًا ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيًّا كَبِيرًا

"Men are guardians ( قَوَّامُونَ) of women because God has favored some more than others and because they spend out of their wealth. (In their turn) righteous women are (meant to be) devoted and to guard what God has (willed to be) guarded even though out of sight (of the husband). As for those (women) on whose part you fear ill-will and nasty conduct, admonish them (first), (next) separate them in beds (and last) beat them. But if they obey you, then seek nothing against them. Behold, God is most high and great.

I have explained this before in my previous post pertaining to the COWs, and I'll just copy and paste it below for your perusal.

Before we start, do ponder on this two surahs:

I. God wants us to use our brains of which he had created for a purpose, which has nothing to do with under utilizing it for the purpose of obtaining a better second hand value.

In [10:100] God had warned us:

"It is not for any soul to believe save by the permission of Allah. He hath cast a wrath upon those who do not reason."

2. Follow the best meaning.

[39:18] Those who listen to the Word, and follow the best (meaning) in it: those are the ones whom Allah has guided, and those are the ones endued with understanding.

Well, bearing the two ayats in mind, here's food for thoughts. (This was what I wrote in my last article, copied, and posted):

Firstly, look at the sentence as a whole, and not a loophole like some who had managed to take advantage of this surah via translation. Then we go part by part.

"Men are guardians of women because God has favored some more than others and because they spend out of their wealth. (In their turn) righteous women are (meant to be) devoted and to guard what God has (willed to be) guarded even though out of sight (of the husband)."

Men are physically, for example, superior than women, so yes, I too like the idea of being "protected" by my husband, albeit we do have to realize though, through experience that protection and guardian only comes from God and just like marriage can be a false sense of security, so can our husbands.

".....and because they spend out of their wealth". So, men are made guardians partly because they spend their wealth on family. But wait.. woman have long gone out to earn a living, side by side with their male counterpart, some are better off than the husbands too. How does this bit in the surah be justified then?

You see folks, Islam is about progression and adaptation. If not, why bother taking the infidel created car to work? Why not ride a camel instead, because, technically, the act of the prophet IS the sunnah. So why not ride a camel to work...such practices saves on toll money and road tax - saving money...another sunnah...

Besides, women of today are far more intellectual (yes guys....some of us may pretend to be stupid just to get a date...) and are indeed capable of taking care of themselves, even without the help of men, as clearly portrayed by the single parents for example. Imagine if an intellectual Muslim women, a COW member is married to THIS guy here. I'm pretty sure the Islamist agenda of propagating forth via genetic multiplication (well, Islam has certainly lost it's attraction since it lost it's beauty in an abyss of hearsays that don't make sense) would be stunted if women were to obey such men :-)

Then, let's dive into the word "guardian" or in Arabic "qawwamun". To be able to explain what "guardian" or in Arabic, "qawwamun" means, we need to comprehend that this word is a plural to the word "qawwam", and the root of the key word, qawwamun is "qama" which means "to stand or to make something stand or to establish something". A related word is qa'im which means "one who stands or makes something stand".

Qawwam is an intensive form of qa'im and has a sense of continuity in the action involved. So it means one who is continuously standing over something (as, for example, a guard or caretaker) or one who is continuously making something stand, for example, maintaining a stance.

So if one were to misinterpret this particular ayat, in favor of women, just as what men love to do with the ayat to justify their wars, oppressing women, polygamous lifestyle, torturing gays and people having illegal sex or drinks....it can be misinterpreted something like this maybe? :

"Ironically, men are expected to "maintain a stand", so why are these women taking the blame of men's erm.."non-standing problem" when it's clearly men who are responsible to "maintain a stand" on their own? They are the caretaker of their own standings, so, if men cannot get.... erm....a standing ovation in bed, then maybe it is they who need to seek medical help."

Moving along.......... the function of qawwam is also understood in the Qur'an to be characterized by fairness. The word "qawwamum/qawwamina" is mentioned only three times in the quran...or Ibrahim Ali may say "tree taims" which is in 4:34, 4:135 and 5:8, ( you can check the concordance HERE) and in the last two,

4: 135 "O you who believe! Be qawwamina with fairness..."

5:8 "O you who believe! Be qawwamina for God as witnesses to fairness..."

Basically, this ayat states that a man back then were expected to hold steadfast with fairness a certain stand. So where is it that say women HAVE to "obey" their husbands??? A fair and good "leader" is open for discussion and comes up with the good ideas, and with fairness mind you, and carries on his shoulders a huge amount of responsibilies. If a wife don't agree, she has a say and not follow the "leader" , so yes, it's more of a compromising , give and take relationship rather than a "leader-follower" relationship. That is what qawwamina means...not "obey"....I think treating your wives like a dog should only strictly in the bedroom and in position only.

As for "beating" ... read what Edip Yuksel's take on men's right to "beat" their wives (?).

So Dr Azlina, you still say that "obeying" husband is a decree from God that you don't question? Don't get confused with the decree from God and the decree from manipulative men. The latter you CAN question, and definitely should.

As stated earlier, I am expected to elaborate on my statement whereby polygamy was meant to be weaned off.

Well everyone is ranting "fairness" in polygamy, many have forgotten, if not ignorant of that surah 4:3 is followed later by 4:129

[4:3] If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice

But then, the question about men being just was answered by God,in the most under cited surah, and frankly, if you are a Muslim woman, would you be surprised? Dr Azlina might be though...

[4:129] Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire: But turn not away (from a woman) altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air). If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self-restraint, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Ouch! Still think polygamy is sunnah? You've got to be retarded to think so after reading 4:129... Polygamy is a mistake, yes, but sunnah? Ride a camel to work..that's a sunnah. And ride only one camel ok...unless you can be just to all the four camels..

This is what I meant by "Indroctination". These poor ladies were not told that "men can never be just even though they have the ardent desire to do so". And earlier on, God said that you can marry more than one IF you can be just, and He knows you can't, it's like my mom telling me I can go to the Metallic concert IF my dad allows me to do so, when she knows darn well my father will never allow me to go to any concerts. (Ya, I know). And I don't think it is appropriate to spring out any hadith to justify polygamy after this, because to do so, is to insult God suggesting that "He doesn't know what He said", because what He said was clear. Isn't THAT a decree Dr Azlina?

Muslims should stop being gullible and check the information coming to us instead of taking it at face value. The result is ...well, the COWssss. I rest my case.

Seriously, it gives me goosebumps that a supposedly intellectual like Dr Azlina, and according to her many more Muslim fall victim to an Islamist movement such as Global Ikhwan. Again, the word "indoctrinated" comes to mind. I will probably join Global Ikhwan to learn the art of disabling the human thinking process, and use that to perhaps someday conquer the world, (muwahahahahaha....evil laughter at the background).

It's tiring just listening to people like Dr Azlina talk. After some time all I hear coming out of her mouth a mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooouthful of COWs dung...I think the dung got confused as to which end of the digestive tract it should come out from.

Let me just repeat what I wrote in my previous post....

For the women who do not reason, and adopt the non-thinking that their existence on the planet earth is solely for the purpose of serving men, satisfying men's sexual lust, and excepts the fact that men's shortcomings are solely theirs to blame, then by all means, you've made your beds, so go lie in them, looking like a prostitute, alluring with halal perfume, drooling with fresh saliva of lust, drowning in an abyss of insecurity that the inability to serve your husband may yet drive him to the nearest whore house, or worst, polygamy.......waiting, for their parochial-and-pedantic-headed husband to walk through the front door Sex-pecting you. A case of "serve who right" or "serve you right" ?? Just don't pretend that it's great to not be able to turn down sex whilst you're having a migrane attack and start preaching it to the rest of us.

Thank you for your letter. It is nice to see that you started your letter with a salam, although in zorro-unmasked.blogspot.com, they took out the earlier parts of your letter.

I would like to make a few comments.

Like you, I am not for race-based political parties. I have, on many occasions, in my blog, full page ads, and talks, proposed that BN and PR slowly but surely work to make themselves one big party each which is non-race or religion based.

Like you, I too believe strongly that all socioeconomic policies must be based on needs, not race or religion.

I also agree that truth has been manipulated by people in power and some have used race wrongly to divide our country for the purpose of clinging onto power. I see this in both in BN and in the opposition.

I’m glad that we are on the same page on the new found cordiality between DAP and PAS.

On your question if I have forgotten YB Karpal Singh and the other races in DAP, I have not. Perhaps it was my mistake not to clearly state that my letter was a response to the DAP’s specific endeavor to focus and attract Malay membership. That is why in the letter I only focus on the DAP and the Malays.

A few weeks ago, the respected Tunku Abd Aziz lamented that he has failed to bring in Malay support. The DAP also launched Roketkini.com with the purpose of engaging the Malay segment. Thus my letter was a response on how the DAP can get Malay support and become multiracial.

For your information, YB Karpal Singh is one of my favourite politicians. I admire his stance on anti-frogging. If you browse through my blog, on many occasions I have supported him.

I have to respectfully disagree with you that the only legitimate natives are the Orang Asli and the indigenous people of Sabah and Sarawak. The Malay stock is an entity that includes the inhabitants of the whole Malay Archipelago, including the Phillipines and Indonesia. A biography of Jose Rizal by Rafael Palma lauded him as ‘The Pride of the Malay Race’, though he had Chinese blood and was a Christian.

The early inhabitants of the Malay Archipelago came in waves of migration between about 3000 to 1500 years ago. The first theory is that they originated from Indochina, flowed down the Peninsula and then crossed to the islands of Sumatra, Borneo and the Phillipines. The second theory is they originated from South China and moved across to Borneo and the Phillipines. These theories are based on archaeological evidence. This you can read from former PKR deputy president Dr. Syed Husin Ali’s book, ‘The Malays – Their Problems and Future’. He writes that the people living in the Peninsula for thousands of years are undoubtedly the true ancestors of the present-day Malays, the Neolithic groups often being described as Proto-Malays.

The book ‘The Malay Archipelago’ was published by Alfred Russel Wallace in 1869. Wallace was a naturalist who is best known for independently proposing the theory of evolution that Charles Darwin later published. ‘The Malay Archipelago’ is an account of Wallace’s scientific exploration through the archipelago from 1854-1862, where he found more than a thousand species new to science in the zoogeographical boundary now known as the Wallace line. It was this exploration that gave him his insight on natural selection. ‘The Malay Archipelago’ was one of the most popular journals of scientific experiment in the 19^th century.

However, in no way I will condone anyone who says that the non-Malays after 1957 are ‘pendatang’. Those are bigots and we cannot allow them to hurt the non-Malays like that.

I agree with you that our history text books are myopic. They do not highlight all the great contributions of the non-Malays towards this wonderful land of ours. I am glad that there is a group of people who are now remedying this.

I also respectfully do not agree with you that the Malays did not have any other choice in sharing Tanah Melayu. They could have decided to go to war but they did not. That is because by nature, they are gracious. By saying the Malays are gracious, in no way do I mean that other cultures are not. I believe those who have lived among Malays would understand what I mean by the Malays being gracious.

On the point of who is the one to have disrespected Malay rulers, I am not going to debate whether it is UMNO or not. I am not from UMNO; you may want to deal with them directly.

On the point that DAP has to say thank you to the Malays, please understand that the purpose of this suggestion is to help DAP win the hearts of the Malays. You need to understand that in Malay culture, when you say sorry and thank you, it is the Malay culture to return it. I have strong convictions that if the DAP says thank you, the Malays will say thank you in return.

In no way would I suggest that we should not say thank you to all Malaysians, especially those who pay taxes. In my open letter I was talking specifically to DAP and addressing their endeavour to attract Malays into their fold.

Personally I do not know if YB Lim Guan Eng understands the Malays, but it is obvious that the DAP does not understand Malay sentiments. The recent refusal of Sarawak DAP to use the songkok in the Sarawak assembly is a case in point. I also do not think the DAP understands that for the Malays, even if you give them food, shelter, money and everything else, it counts for nothing unless you respect their adat. It counts for nothing unless you respect their culture. The Malay pepatah – ‘biar mati anak, jangan mati adat’ explains the position of the core Malay group.

Your comments on not understanding what I meant in my letter by practicing Malay adat and peribahasa shows that you do not really understand what is important to the Malays. At the same time however, I agree it is of course good to concentrate on the social needs of the community.

Again it seems that you do not understand Malay adat. When I urged the DAP to apologize, it is not the kind of apology that has to be warranted which you are talking about. Malays will apologize without asking why. They will just apologize. If you do not understand this, read my letter again – I wrote that the Malays will say sorry even if they did no wrong. For the fact that you asked this question on the reasons behind saying sorry, you do not truly understand the Malays.

I did not advocate Malay supremacy. I advocated the historical understanding of the transformation of this land. In no way do I consider the Malays as more supreme than any other culture. All cultures are equal in the eyes of God. But in Malaysia I will put pre-eminence to the Malay and native cultures of Sabah and Sarawak. But in no way would I like to live without the Chinese and Indian cultures around me. My love for these cultures perhaps surpasses many of the people from the cultures themselves.

On YB Lim Kit Siang, my suggestion that YB Lim Kit Siang resigns is in context of DAP seriously wanting to attract the Malays. I apologize, I’m in a hurry to help create a non-race based political party, and I see YB Lim Kit Siang’s current active involvement in the DAP as a stumbling block. In no way did I mean disrespect. It is just politics. The Malays will not throng into the DAP as long as YB Lim Kit Siang is still actively involved. That is the Malay sentiment.

The reason why I suggested a merger between the DAP and PKR and not DAP and PAS is simple. Both DAP and PKR have a multiracial make up. PAS is Islamist. Until they change their stance, a merger would be very difficult. As I stated earlier, I for one would jump for joy if two main parties would dissolve internal sub-parties and merge together.

Alas, my letter to YB Lim Guan Eng is a respond to DAP’s own endeavor in engaging the Malay segment of the population. Tunku Aziz seems to not have an answer to the problem. I am providing some possibilities. If the DAP is serious and smart (which I do think they are, judging by what they are doing in Penang) , they should test my ideas with the Malay market. Ask the core Malay group that they have failed to attract if this chap Anas got it right.

Once they have the feedback, they can adjust their policies and actions to their own benefit. Failing which, DAP will remain as a party that is dependent on the pendulum swings on Malaysian politics. DAP cannot rule the country with their fixed deposit voters mainly from the Chinese segment of the Malaysian rakyat.

Lastly, Brother Commander (Rtd) S. Thayaparan, I would like to thank you for engaging and disagreeing with my letter in a most empathetic manner. You did not resort to demonizing me, name-calling, or playing God, pretending to know what is in my heart. For that I respect you. It is people like you that we need more of, to make this country a better place - people who know how to agree to disagree; people with care and love; people with the consciousness of God in their hearts.

I would love to have teh tarik with you and discuss more on how we can make this country a better place.

It is a pity that almost 54 years after Merdeka there is still a great deal of uneasiness among the authorities about a fundamental right which is so essential to the functioning of a democracy. They forget that the “right to assemble peaceably and without arms” is a freedom enshrined in Article 10 of the Malaysian Constitution. It is a freedom whose observance will not, in most circumstances, threaten the well-being of society.

Nonetheless, like all rights and freedoms, the actual expression and articulation of the Freedom of Assembly has to take into account its context. It is this context that is critical in the case of the planned ‘July 9 Rally.’ There are various dimensions to this context which Bersih, the proponent of the rally, and Perkasa and UMNO Youth, its opponents, will have to take heed of.

Issues.

- Bersih claims that the primary purpose of the rally is to highlight weaknesses and defects in the conduct of our elections. Since it has had discussions with the Elections Commission on this it should continue to talk to that body. The Chairman of the Commission is prepared to dialogue. He should now publicly invite Bersih to resume the discussions, its July 9 rally notwithstanding. Bersih, in turn, should respond positively to the Commission. In a mature democracy any and every opportunity to dialogue in order to resolve issues should be taken up.

- Some of the issues that Bersih has focussed upon such as the automatic registration of voters (which I endorse) are beyond the purview of the Elections Commission. They would require legislative approval. If Bersih cannot persuade the Barisan Nasional(BN)government to introduce new electoral laws, has it succeeded in getting Pakatan Rakyat(PR) MPs to table a private member’s bill on any of the electoral reforms it is now demanding? On how many occasions have such bills been tabled since March 2008? Were attempts to table such bills thwarted by the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat? Since Bersih includes opposition parties represented in Parliament, it should inform the public in detail on how it sought electoral reform through Parliament in the last three years.

- In making its demands, Bersih has not distinguished the actual conduct of elections from the larger electoral-cum-political process. The actual conduct of elections in Malaysia since 1959, from the maintenance of electoral rolls to safeguarding the integrity of the ballot paper, has been largely fair and just---- given that no electoral system in the world is totally devoid of flaws. This was one of the conclusions that the Election Watch group headed by the late Tun Mohamed Suffian Hashim that looked at the 1990 General Election (I was a member of that group) came to. We also pointed out that the lack of fairness in the electoral-political process was manifested in the incumbent’s misuse of state facilities for campaign purposes and in the biased role of the mainstream media. Since these very legitimate concerns have not been addressed, Bersih has every reason to raise them.

- If Bersih is sincere about rectifying them, the political parties who are in the forefront of this coalition, should set the example in the states which are under PR rule by ensuring that state facilities are not misused in any election or by-election. And yet, in by-elections in Selangor, Penang and Kedah, it is alleged that the state government had deployed some of the resources of the state, directly and indirectly, for their campaigns.Similarly, if Bersih wants equitable access to BN inclined print and electronic media, it should also encourage opposition oriented online newspapers to be fair and balanced in their coverage and analysis of political issues. After all, cyber media in Malaysia today is an important source of information--- and disinformation.

- While some of Bersih’s demands are reasonable, its failure to locate these demands within a larger framework has tarnished its credibility. For all the shortcomings in its electoral system, Malaysia is one of the few countries in the Global South that has held regular elections participated by parties with totally divergent ideologies ever since Independence in 1957. It is equally significant that these elections have been completely free of violence--- which is a rarity in the Global South. In the first General Election itself, two states came under an opposition party. Today, four out of the 13 states in the Federation are in opposition hands. There has never been a single moment in Malaysian electoral politics when the opposition has commanded less than 35 per cent of the popular vote.

Security.

- If the issues raised by Bersih should be viewed in their proper context, so should the public give due consideration to the question of security which is expressly stated in Article 10 (2), a, b, and c of the Constitution. There is no denying that with three organisations asserting their determination to hold rallies and marches without police permit, the political temperature has increased by a few degrees. Leaders of two of the organisations have received death threats.

- There is another contextual dimension to the security question which we cannot afford to ignore. In the first Bersih demonstration on November 10 2007, a number of people were injured. There were also similar casualties in the Hindraf demonstration on November 25 in the same year. In almost all the reformasi demonstrations from September 1998 to the middle of 2000, individuals and some police personnel were hurt.

- I had thought initially that Bersih demonstrators should be allowed to congregate in a stadium, in accordance with their constitutional right but I didn’t realise that there was a security issue lurking in the shadows. Apparently, if the stadium option had materialised, certain elements in Bersih, it is alleged, would have turned the stadium to a Tahrir Square, with demonstrators camping there day and night for weeks on end. Of course, the Western media would be there to dramatise the event, especially since both the de facto and de jure leaders of Bersih --- Anwar Ibrahim and Ambiga Sreenivasan--- have such close ties to the Western media. It would be a terrible travesty of justice since the Malaysian situation bears no comparison to Mubarak’s Egypt or to those autocratic Arab monarchies and republics which are now being challenged by their people. None of them is an inheritor to more than five decades of continuous civilian rule legitimised through competitive electoral politics.

Impact.

How the proposed July 9 rally and counter rallies will impact upon taxi drivers, traders, shoppers and the general public is yet another factor that deserves our attention. There is a high probability that the rallies will cause a degree of dislocation especially since three different groups with their own agendas are involved. Traders and taxi drivers in the affected areas will inevitably suffer a loss of income. Here again, the past is a good teacher. In previous demonstrations in Kuala Lumpur, people in various walks of life have had to pay the price.

- It is quite conceivable that July 9 will reinforce yet another unhealthy development which has become more and more obvious in the last two years. Partisan political polarisation is increasing in the country. The BN-PR schism is deepening within the populace. If we do not make a serious attempt to reverse the trend, we may move in the direction of Thai politics which has been severely hamstrung by the cleavage that separates those with the government and those with Thaksin Shinawatra.

Motives.

There are also ulterior motives behind the Bersih plan that any reasonable person would probe. I am very much aware of this partly because of my own experience with demonstrations and the self-serving politics of the prime mover behind July 9. When I was Deputy President of Parti Keadilan Nasional( now Rakyat)(PKR) from 1999 to 2001, the party was solidly behind the reformasi demonstrations. After a while I realized that the demonstrations were taking us nowhere; they were not leading to any democratic awakening among the masses. On the contrary, the people were turning against the party because of the hardship they caused. A number of our activists were arrested, some under the ISA. Most of all, I could see that the demonstrations instigated by Anwar from behind prison walls served only one purpose: to keep him in the limelight, and to get him out of prison. Within the party leadership, I took an unambiguous position against demonstrations. With the exception of Keadilan President, Dr. Wan Azizah Ismail, no one else supported me. The Malaysian public came to know of my opposition to the demonstrations, and the then Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohammad even alluded to it in the media.

- Anwar’s ulterior motive is even more brazen today. He desperately wants to become Prime Minister, and will resort to any means to achieve his ambition. He is hoping that July 9 will help him overcome some of the obstacles he now faces and give him the boost that he needs. A massive mobilisation of his supporters and fence-sitters on July 9, he thinks, will divert attention from his sodomy trial which begins later in the month and from his sex-video scandal. At the same time, he is expecting the demonstration to create the sort of momentum that will erode support for the BN and shore up his own position. If this impresses his allies and endorsers in some Western capitals they may even give him stronger backing to achieve “a regime change”.

- Apart from Anwar’s own party, both his PR partners, the Islamic Party of Malaysia (PAS) and the Democratic Action Party (DAP), are also driven by the desire to gain power through the quickest route. For them also the end justifies the means. July 9--- whatever the arguments against it--- is an important stepping-stone towards that goal.

Once Malaysians understand the context--- especially the ulterior motives--- they will be wary about July 9. They will be able to distinguish the self-serving agenda of a deeply flawed politician from the genuine quest for electoral reform and political transformation. They should not allow such a politician to undermine their future.

Empathy....such a lonely word...

Empathy. That is what is severely lacking in our society today. That paired with other lost good traits through time; integrity, honesty, sincerity, the ability to count our blessings, the ability to apologize. What we gain whilst growing as a nation is we develope a self serving culture, (it's a nice way of saying selfishness), ego that needed no viagra boost, amnesia of our own history, discontent, anger over injustice and the list goes on and on.

This my brothers and sisters is the consequences of a solely money driven society. And we all, in muhibbah proportion are guilty as charged. We are not interested in reasoning the facts, but would prefer to listen to things that yields self gain, especially materially. We believe, not so much in the truth, but what benefits us. Human nature.

Let's get back to Empathy. Whether you and me like it or not, history states that the Proto Malays then Deutero Malays came before the Hang Li Poh, the Portugese, the Chinese, and Indians. Here's where empathy lies. Imagine it to be of the reverse. The Chinese and indian came first, followed by the Proto/Deutero malays that automatically go into the "dan lain lain box". Tell me how you feel, honestly.

Chinese/ Indian: Would you have embraced the deutero/proto malays the way they have done so, without claiming that this land is yours forever? Look at the history of China and India. If Malays were to have migrated there, would they be embraced the same way without a fight ? Would you have expected them to assimilate with the present society at the time the way Indonesians, Americans etc had? History of China showed the killing of your own kind so as to unite the kingdom. Ghandi had to fast for long period of time to get the Indians, amongst them, to unite. Look at Singapore. Would you blame the Malays today, for feeling insecure about being a second class citizen on their own soil?

Malays: Imagine if you are being called immigrants even as you are the 3rd descendants born and raised in this country. How would you feel? Is this fair? Islam had taught you that this land is God's land. And that being Islam have no room for racism and injustice. Islam also taught you to rise to the occasion in serving humanity. You cannot claim racial superiority and at the same time claim to be Islamic. That's just a joke.

Malays are irritated with the arrogance of non malays not accepting the fact that they did the non Malays a favor by granting them the citizenship. After all, they could have gone to war and chase the Chinese / Indians out of the country back then. Or would they. Could they? And what would have happen if the Chinese and Indians were sent back? The chinese came to malaya because they wanted to run away from Opium War. Why can't the Chinese appreciate the fact that in Malaya, they found sanctity ? Malays are also irritated at some Chinese/Indian that despite having born and bread here in malaysia, some don't even bother to make an effort to learn the Bahasa Malaysia. But one thing fantastic about the Indians that I note. Almost all Indians can speak English!!

Non Malays are irritated with the arrogance of the Malays for despite contributing to the economy, a huge contribution if I may add and treating this country as their home, they are still treated like "kaum pendatang". (But pendatang halal maaaa..not pendatang haram). But can you blame the Malays for questioning your sincerity towards uniting with them, when you refuse to give up your vernacular schools on the pretext of maintaining your culture. Why? Separating our children from even before puberty ergo impairing unity is less important than maintaining culture? As for the Malays, please...if you want to attract the non malays into joining a One School system, you seriously need to be more sensitive towards making schools that is as competetive, and accomodate the needs of minority to maintain their culture. They are here. What are you going to do about it? Deal with it, but deal with it in a manner complying to the teaching of Islam.

The society we live in today is struggling to achieve unity. We are all swimming in our own racial insecurities, distrust amongst us and for some who had failed to evolve from the nearnandal era, racial hatred. Anyone who dispute this should ask themselves, "who do I have lunch with everyday at work? Is it with my own race or a mix group", there you go, there's your proof.....and it's only because we do not have a ONE SCHOOL system, and i am not talking about the Sekolah Kebangsaan. If we can send an..well, the russians call him cosmonaut, the americans call him astronaut and malaysians call him...gay-or-not?, to the moon, then we can spend good money to build good ONE SCHOOLs. If we cannot come up with a decent ONE SCHOOL, then we should all just shut the f** up...

Of course there are those who have embraced each other and see themselves as just Malaysians. Unfortunately, that is what happens to quality...they come in small quantity and are struggling to find a sense of belonging in society. If anything we are the minority. Heck! I think even the gay community outnumbered us.

But why are we fighting each other? Why don't we make the politicians, all of them, not just LGE apologize to us, the rakyat? Mahathir should apologize for planting the seed to chronism and destroying the independence of the legal system? Anwar for selling anything from under the sun just to become the PM. Let's not forget, he was one of them who fed chronism before he became their foe. Tengku Razaleigh and Musa Hitam for teaming up to illegalize UMNO causing an innocent by stander Tun Salleh Abas to be sacked, and the legal system therein flushed down the Mexico way, only because they did not anticipate Mahathir could retaliate.

These politicians spend too much time in dick waving competition, without even considering what the consequences will be on the rakyat, so just they can show who's dick is larger and deserve that standing ovation. ! They should also apologize to the people of Sabah and Sarawak. These trusting souls voted for BN for a long time and look at how the incumbent government reciprocrated... there are still people in these places who don't know what it would be like to live their lives with electricity. They should also apologize for abusing the NEP which is one of the major contributor to this countries discontent.

So bloody hell....they should be the ones apologizing to us!!!

What a mess we've made of our country!! But the solution is not so much as to look back, but to look forward. If being humble and apologizing is seen as something that is so difficult to do, then perhaps unity is not seen as a pritority after all, so much so, we cannot disable our ego to make way for unity. What is the point of being intellects when we have lost our basic virtue of being human? Like love, sometime we should let our hearts do the talking.

Take a moment and ponder on how lucky we are to be living in this country. It's a blessed land, a blessed country. The people on the other hand.............. Well, we don't have major catastrophes like earthquake, major typhoon, monsoon, we don't have absolute poverty, we only have relative poverty. If you have the time to check up on the people who lives in the squatters area, you'd be surprised to see Astro Arial sticking out of most of their houses, not to mention cars. So we are blessed. Start counting our blessing more than we whine about what we don't have.

Of course there are issues that needed to be ironed out. Ironed them out,by all means, for that we must. But only if we do it with love and respect for each other and with unity as the ultimate destiny, and not with hatred and deception. Remember that the race, religion and idealism ticket are of the most powerful tools for the politicians to manipulate society. Let's not be pawns in their chess game.

Why don't we all stop talking about unity, and start living it. Is preserving culture more important than preserving unity? After all, culture is something humans create and pass it down to the next generation. Why don't we make unity, our future culture??? Let's share this beautiful country, voluntarily....

Open letter to Lim Guan Eng — Anas Zubedy

JUNE 24 — Dear Lim Guan Eng,

Peace be with you.

Let me state my position very clearly. I am a centrist. I do not work for Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat. I do not belong to any political party. I am a rakyat. I am a voter. I vote for the best person for my constituency, not which party the candidate is from.

I firmly believe that what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong, no matter who does it. I care about unity and work to promote unity. I will render my service to any party that will work for unity.

I am one of those people who were glad to see the growing co-operation between the DAP and PAS. I see it as the best gift March ‘08 has given to our nation. When two Malaysian blocs who have avoided each other for decades can now sit down together and share a meal, it is reason to celebrate.

I am glad that the DAP is looking forward to become more multiracial in its membership. If you and the DAP are serious about this, we may have an alternative to race-based politics. I would like to share with you some ideas on how the DAP can make it happen.

1. Openly acknowledge that we were sired from a Malay polity

Without an iota of doubt, make it clear that you completely accept history that this country is sired from a Malay polity; with a history, religion and way of life that are from the Malay-Islamic tradition. Only when you make it very clear that you acknowledge this history, communication lines will begin to open.

2. Appreciate that the Malays shared the land

Generally, the Malays are a gracious people. They are more inclined towards giving than taking. They showed this when they agreed to share Tanah Melayu. They see it as a sacrifice. You must learn to understand why they feel that way.

They agreed that from 1957 onwards the communities who came here initially to earn a living were automatically promoted from “immigrants” to co-owners of the land. They welcomed millions as fellow citizens. By doing so, the Malays agreed to become a community among communities. All they asked was to be assured of two things — that their Malay Rulers and that their religion Islam are respected.

A show of appreciation for this act of sharing will make a big difference to the Malay community. If you and the DAP set the example to appreciate that the Malays shared the land, the hearts of the Malay community will open to you. Just a simple acknowledgement, a simple thank you, would have warmed their hearts.

3. Get to know the Malays

You and the DAP need to get to know the Malays and get to know Islam. Embrace both the good and bad within the Malay community. Learn to accept their idiosyncrasies, just like there are idiosyncrasies in any other culture.

If the DAP really wants to represent all Malaysians, regardless of race and religion, you need to understand all Malaysians. And the Malays need to know that you understand them. Fifty-four years after agreeing to become a community among communities, they are naturally concerned that those in authority are people who will not understand their needs.

The best way to become familiar with the Malay worldview is to experience Malay-ness. Practise Malay adat and encourage DAP leaders and members to do the same.

As a basic start, it would be good to learn and practise Malay peribahasa. Peribahasa has been a part of Malay culture for many generations and it reveals many insights into the values of the Malays. If you use it in your daily conversation, it will give you a medium to gently communicate with the hearts of the Malays. Another simple thing to cultivate is the habit of wearing traditional Malay wear, especially during official functions. Perhaps you can also organise programmes for your leaders to stay in a Malay kamping. It will be a good eye-opener for them to understand how to relate to the Malays.

If the DAP practises simple gestures like this, it is an opportunity to show that you respect and value Malay culture. It will demonstrate the DAP’s inclusiveness. A good example of inclusive culture is shown in the Peranakan community who draw from both Malay and Chinese traditions. By being inclusive, they do not lose out anything but become a richer people for it.

4. Say sorry

Some of the DAP’s actions in the past, rightly or wrongly, may have hurt the Malay community. For the Malays to stop seeing the DAP as an antagonist, the DAP has to acknowledge the hurt they have caused the Malays and say sorry. If you look at the practice of asking for forgiveness every Aidilfitri, you will realise how important this act is to the culture. The Malays will say sorry even if they did not do wrong. They will ask for forgiveness simply as a good gesture out of respect. They say sorry all the time. That is embedded in the Malay culture. The Chinese may see saying sorry as “losing face” but for the Malays, saying sorry it is to give the other party “face” — an act of high culture.

Sometimes, to achieve bigger purposes we know that we have to humble ourselves and take the wiser path. In this spirit, I suggest that you apologise for the chauvinistic actions the DAP has taken in the past. For example, the DAP’s attempt to forge a “Malaysian Malaysia” in the way of making the Malay culture and all cultures of Malaysia equal. That is wrong to our history. They are inconsistent with the DAP’s objectives as an inclusive Malaysian party.

Once you say sorry, it will not be difficult for the Malays to forgive and to forget. It is part of the Islamic principles that are ingrained in the Malay worldview. Prophet Muhammad also showed the example of a forgiving spirit. The Quran in 8:61 commands: “But if they incline to peace, you also incline to it, and (put your) trust in God.”

5. Lim Kit Siang must retire

If the DAP is serious about being a multiracial party, it needs to re-brand public perception towards it. There must be fresh leadership so that the DAP is no longer judged based on past actions. The old must make way for the young.

I acknowledge that Lim Kit Siang, in his many years of service, has made tremendous contribution. He has done well as an opposition leader. His background research has given us the precedence that we can now build on as we move forward. But it is time to move on.

As long as Lim Kit Siang remains in power directly or indirectly, I feel that the DAP will continue to be perceived as a Chinese-exclusive party. Detractors will use his past actions as a scapegoat to disrupt the DAP’s multiracial aims. This is why I believe that it is good time for Lim Kit Siang to pass the baton to new leaders.

The government should bestow him at least a Tan Sri-ship and he should accept it with open heart from a Malaysian royalty.

6. Be willing to lose out a considerable portion of the Chinese voter base

I am glad that in terms of theory and constitution, the DAP welcomes all as equal members regardless of race and religion. But to really have this in practice, the DAP has to be prepared to lose out the portion of the Chinese voter base who wishes to remain exclusive.

The DAP can be a positive alternative to race-based political parties. To do this you need to let it be known that the DAP is serious about being inclusive to all. Make it clear to the rakyat that you are willing to give up ties with the chauvinistic Chinese, and all Malaysians will feel assured that you will fairly represent all.

7. Merge the DAP and PKR

The fastest way for the DAP to be a formidable alternative to race-based politics is to merge with PKR. Once you do that, automatically you become a multiracial body — a truly Malaysian party.

Let us be honest with ourselves. The loose coalition of the DAP, PKR and PAS seems similar to the BN formula of Umno, the MCA and MIC. Before long, the rakyat will begin to see you as a copy of BN.

The real issue that needs to be solved here is trust among leaders. When it comes to the membership, the majority will follow the leaders. If you and the DAP leadership make a clear stand to merge with PKR, the majority will follow suit.

It is time to put aside internal struggles. Whoever becomes the leader is secondary to the point that once the DAP and PKR merge, immediately you will be in a better position to be an alternative to BN’s race-based formula.

Before anyone starts screaming "AllahuAkhbar!!!" and charge at me with a whip, or stones, or sword just so they can kill in the name of the same God I submit to, please halt, and do something that differs us humans with animals..it's called "thinking".

We Muslims should not get instantaneously angry when non Muslims mock our religion, until we can justify whether do we deserve to be mocked in the first place. Laugh if you may in the name of humour upon watching this video, but if you think about the state of Islam today, you may end up crying, especially if you're a Muslim women and homosexuals.......

When you hear men blaming women for anything, from their inability to control their copulation gadget, to the earthquake (or rather BoobQuake), you can still understand where it's coming from, hence the addition of the term "Male chauvenist pigs" into our common daily language. But when women blame her own kind for men's faults or for faults shared by both parties, that's when another new expletive, simply known as WTF in the cyber world (in case you don't know what WTF stands for, well, depending on the context, it can mean World Tennis Federation, only when it's devoid of the moans and groans that may cure men's impotence problem. Otherwise, it simply means "What... the... Fish...").

In case it escapes our minds, the word "oppression" includes it's mental component. Then again, you need at least a simple organ called the brain to be able to experience mental oppression. So, sometimes, it is a bit difficult to achieve a plausible diagnosis when faced with such situation whereby the women blame themselves when clearly it's not completely their fault to begin with. You are torn between the differential diagnosis of oppression, ignoramus, desperately insecure or simply brainless to even experience the former differential diagnosis. If a person is told that they're not good enough everyday constantly and tenaciously, he/she will begin to believe it at some point. That is mental oppression. Ask the British Empire how this works, they'll tell ya.

So when a friend emailed us this link, we had a great time bitching about it..But after the laughter and the witty exchange of comments had simmered down, some of us if not all, were left with one uneasy feeling, alarmed. As for me, I do not know whether to laugh,or to cry. To me, this club perhaps marks the completion of a repetition of history. The Jahiliyah Era (Ignorance), . It's when women ourselves, fall into an abyss of acceptance of men's oppression.

You know that sensation you get when you ingest a sudden bulk of frozen ice cream? Yes, these folks are suffering from a similar kind of brain freeze, except that this looks to be of permanent nature.

With that halal perfume lingering that can make a nostril hair drop off from the irritation? I don't think so.

This is one difference between men and women that these bunch of nitwits should comprehend. Most women cannot have sex when they are tired doing the house chores or when they are pissed with the man while men can have sex as long as they can still carry their balls around, unless they have a longstanding non-standing problem. They're angry, they have angry sex. They're sad, they have mercy sex. They're gay, they have sex, although depends on the definition of gay, on both accounts they all still manage to have sex. Make no mistake about it. The two heads may share the same name, but totally different governing bodies.

Furthermore, has it occurred to men that women too need to have a good visual input as foreplay and a romantic mood set in order to have the need for sex? So why can't they harp on men to reciprocate by taking the trouble to woo ( I said woo not woe) their wives instead of putting the responsibility of their sexual relationship solely on themselves? Why not have a "Kelab mengorat Bini" where they have classes for example teaching men how to cook romantic dinners for their wives, or at least learn some foot massage if study on GPS (that's G-spot positioning System by the way) is too much to handle?

Of course there is some truth in the the allegation that women sometimes take their hubbies for granted the moment they have secured the title "wife", only but minute of quantity. Again, it takes two to tango. The problem with society today, is that I dare say majority, both husbands and wives, have this perception that marriage is the end of dating, so couples tend to take each other for granted, consumed with the contentment of the false security of an institution called marriage.

If so, there is some truth in the statement whereby women before marriage is an economist in the kitchen, an artist at home and a devil in bed and after marriage become artist in the kitchen, devil at home and an economist in bed, these things work both ways. When women are not happy with how they are not appreciated as a companion, that's when counter phrases like, "Men are root of all women's problems: MENstrual pain, MENtal illness, MENopause...." comes by.

"Much of the problems in society are caused by disobedient wives who do not bring joy and happiness to their husbands and do not serve their husbands well," she said."

Ya, I bet these bunch of neurotics would have no qualms blaming the disobedient Japanese wives for causing Japan's recent tsunami too.

I thought the only one to SERVE is God... You don't "serve" your husband, you love him. And when a woman loves a man, she will do almost anything for him, that's a given. But men need to reciprocate in order to earn a woman's love, respect, honor and of course vice versa, in order to make a marriage work.

(30:21) "Among His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves, in order to have tranquility and contentment with each other. He places in your heart love and care towards your spouses. In this, there are signs for people who think."

But the problem is people DON'T LIKE to think. It's too time consuming and tiring for a brain of pea sizes.

"Happy husbands won't abuse wives"

I'm sure they didn't even find this true in "Happy Feet". So, basically, these ignoramuses are saying that a man is abusive because it is a woman's fault, and not because he needs a psychiatric evaluation. No wonder our Psychiatry wards are full of women suffering from the consequences of abuse rather than the men who abuses. I'm sure these are the same crowd who victimizes the rape victim by blaming the rape on the raped and not on the rapist. What does it take for society to decipher rape victims...be raped to attain such empathy? I'm beginning to wonder where these women's heads have been? Up Saifool's arse? What happen to women are garments to men as they are to women?

[2:187] " Permitted to you, on the night of the fasts, is the approach to your wives. They are your garments and ye are their garments. "

So what's up with women being treated like disposable undergarments? Isn't that what the word "obey" strongly suggested.

This is nothing new, because most culture, throughout history, have proven that men do their best to feel good by making the women feel inferior than themselves. It's to do with that extra appendage hanging in between their hairy thighs and the ego that comes with it. But when women accepts the fact that she is created solely for the purpose of becoming men's muse, then I suppose, we don't have to wait for 2012 when the world is prophesied to end, because the "civilization" had already ended.

The only time women are put in a pedestal in Islam today, is probably when the symbol of the entrance to our reproductive organ is kissed by millions during circumbulation of God's House. I mean, otherwise, why are we kissing the Hajaral Aswad?

I'm sure that was not what God had meant when He said in Surah 4:1, "...............Respect the womb that bore you".

Compare women today, and the women during the Jahiliyah Era. Can anyone spot any difference? Have the accusing fingers stop pointing at us every time anything bad happens? Are we still not oppressed? (Well, that ex-Al Arqam woman, after just completing her participation in "Jom Poligami" campaign is a living example of mental oppression). Are we not the only gender being punished for crimes when men commit the same crime yet gets away with it? Are our auta-rities not biased towards men? If the answers to the questions above is "NO" on all accounts, then anyone with an acceptable IQ will be able to decipher the failure of the religion itself. The only question left to answer is "Had the occurrence of Islam freed women the way Islam, not it's crooked misinterpretation, had intended it to? " If the answer is again, "NO", then tell me, what is the point of being "enlightened"?

There are many verses in the Quran that shows men and women are equal in the eyes of God.

4:124, which says,

‘If any of you do deeds of righteousness, whether it be male or a female and has faith, they shall surely enter Paradise and not the least injustice shall be done to them."

16:97 which says

‘If any of you perform good deeds, be it a man or a woman and is a believer, We shall give you good life and We should reward you for all your good works"

49:13

‘O humankind, We have created you from a single pair of male and female and have divided you into nations and tribes, so that you shall recognize each other not that you despise each other and the most honored in the sight of God, is the one who is the most righteous

33:35, which says,

"For Muslim men and Muslim women,for believing men and women,for devout men and women,for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant,for men and women who give in charity,for men and women who fast and deny themselves,for men and women who guard their chastity, for men and women who engage much in God's praise,God has prepared for them forgiveness and a vast reward"

Alas! Despite all these positive surahs, there's One surah some men continue to harp on. Yes, it only takes one surah that they want to hear and in favor of them, to conveniently out shadow the adjuvant surahs that gives us the whole picture.

The famous 4:34:

"Men are guardians of women because God has favored some more than others and because they spend out of their wealth. (In their turn) righteous women are (meant to be) devoted and to guard what God has (willed to be) guarded even though out of sight (of the husband). As for those (women) on whose part you fear ill-will and nasty conduct, admonish them (first), (next) separate them in beds (and last) beat them. But if they obey you, then seek nothing against them. Behold, God is most high and great.

Wow..just in one surah, men gets to be the boss and beat their wives. No wonder Islam attracts many men more it does women (unless they are masochists who enjoy demoting themselves to a second class citizenship by common practice), more so if one is a male chauvinist pig. Otherwise, we need to heavily rely on the Propagating Forth strategy and pass down the religion via hereditary, or via conversion by marriage and hope democracy will help us take over the world, if not to keep the religion alive. Seal the deal with human made "Apostasy" , just in case. Islam is no longer spread via it's beauty, but more so via it's insecurities...

Well, here's food for thoughts (if one cares to feed one's brain), to explain what "guardian" or in Arabic, "qawwamun" is.

It is a plural to the word "qawwam", and the root of the key word, qawwamun is "qama" which means "to stand or to make something stand or to establish something". A related word is qa'im which means "one who stands or makes something stand". Qawwam is an intensive form of qa'im and has a sense of continuity in the action involved. So it means one who is continuously standing over something (as, for example, a guard or caretaker) or one who is continuously making something stand, for example, maintaining a stance.

It is easy to misinterpret this particular ayat, in favor of women, just as what men love to do with the ayat to justify their wars, oppressing women, torturing gays and people having illegal sex or drinks....it can be misinterpreted something like this maybe? :

"Ironically, men are expected to "maintain a stand", so why are these women taking the blame of men's erm.."non-standing problem" when it's clearly men are responsible to "maintain a stand" on their own? They are the caretaker of their own standings, so, if men cannot get it to stand, stand up for it and get viagra lah."

Moving along, but the thing is, the function of qawwam is also understood in the Qur'an to be characterized by fairness. Thus in 4:134 and 5:8, the only other passages in the Qur'an where the word is used, the believers are told:

4: 134 "O you who believe! Be qawwamin with fairness..."

5:8 "O you who believe! Be qawwamin for God as witnesses to fairness..."

As for "beating" the Mrs., bear in mind that the Quranic translators were men, the same species who hardly marry women who are older than them which is ironically the most under-practiced practice of Muhammad by the ummah as compared to say...polygamy. So since they like to marry young women if possible who had just attained menarche, I suppose it is more easier to "beat" the young wives as compared to the older ones, who have at least some knowledge on how to kill their husband and make it look like an accident. Before you gleam , beam, whatever, here.... read what Edip Yuksel's take on men's right to "beat" their wives (?).

In [10:100] God had warned us:

"It is not for any soul to believe save by the permission of Allah. He hath cast a wrath upon those who do not reason."

For the women who do not reason, and adopt the non-thinking that their existence on the planet earth is solely for the purpose of satisfying men's sexual lust, and excepts the fact that men's shortcomings are solely theirs to blame, then by all means, you've made your beds, so go lie on them, naked, alluring with halal perfume, drooling with fresh saliva of lust, drowning in an abyss of insecurity that the inability to serve your husband may yet drive him to the nearest whore house, or worst, polygamy.......waiting, for their fat, pot bellied,-parochial-and-pedantic-headed husband to walk through the front door Sex-pecting you. A case of "serve who right" or "serve you right" ??

Maybe you are lying on the bed of God's wrath... but don't go dragging other women into it...

HOW TO EFF-UP A SIMPLE TREKKING TRIP AND BLAME IT ON THE EVIL SPIRIT...

I love jungle trekking!! I haven't been to many of them, but the ones I had have made me crave for more. Jungle trekking would be worth all the-muscle-ache-while, when you seal the deal with camping at a favorite site, be it by the beach or on the hill top. The latter by the way isn't that good an idea since we all know that lightning tend to strike the highest points. The last thing you want is to become human toast fit for the eagles' breakfast the morning after. I'm sure you know that that's not what "being at top of the food chain" really means.

I've heard people coming back from such trips grumbling about how bad a time they had from the beginning of the expedition right up to the end. When they narrated their bad experiences, it is easy to see why they ended up having such bad luck. It's not because the environment was bad , but more of the lack of basic knowledge and preparation for it. Knowledge is indeed, power and in most cases, may even keep you alive.

If you are trekking within the country, and going deep within the jungle, I suggest you take a professional guide with you. A better option would be the locals, for example, the Orang Asli. Orang Asli is like the Sherpa of the Himalayas, provided we can communicate with them that is. Otherwise, be prepared to end your trekking rendezvous somewhere deep in Thailand jungle.

Some professional guides' charges tend to be the more likely the COD ( cause of death) rather than being eaten by the bears in the jungle. In such cases, perhaps you would want to go with a group of friends. This is when knowledge and skill is even more so important. It's better to be armed with survival skill rather than to rely on others, just in case the group gets separated.

There were people, foreigners who were lost in our thick jungle; you can read it in three British backpackers got lost in the Malaysian jungle , Biologist lost in the Fraser's Hill Jungles. His case was more of an overconfident one. But again, with knowledge, he managed to survive 5 days in the thick Malaysian jungle without food and occasional deprivation of water. It was his cell phone that saved his life. Well, that and 150 police officers who were deployed into the forest in a search party that had nothing to do with Google. It was a good story. Only thing, they had forgotten to ask him, was whether he had spotted any peculiar looking creature stalking him around. Some creature that look like this:

Seriously, isn't it a bit arrogant for these tourists to not contemplate getting lost in Malaysian jungles, when Malaysians ourselves often get lost in our own city, driving around and following the Malaysian Signboards!!

Bottom line, you've just got to be prepared and always presume that some things may go wrong and prepare for them. There are many books that i feel useful to read especially those written by people who actually gone to the place. I find the "Lonely Planet" series to be useful. They even have a "Trekking so and so" series. Do read book on the basic jungle surviving skills. They are extremely helpful. There are many useful link to read up. One that I find quite good would be "http://www.artoftravel.com " where they will even tell you how to pack your luggage, what type of sleeping bags to purchase for what season etc. Do check it out, it's a brilliant site!!

Rule of thumb for trekkers :

Enter the jungle with the hope of not facing any problem but at the same time anticipate and be prepared for them.

Most of the excellent sites/books are written by Western writers. They are excellent in presentation except that they lack certain type of preparation into the jungle that only the Malay books not to mention the Malay Bomohs can offer - Preparation against the spirits. Don't laugh. Even the Singaporeans have stories of the freaky type to tell about jungles in Malaysia. Here's one from a Singaporean. Of course they like to talk bad about Malaysian jungle, since they have no jungle of their own to bitch about.

Stories of Spirits enchanting children and bringing them to a mansion, deep in the jungle. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if those kids had made up the stories based on fiction of Hansel and Gretel due to sugar crave and to get out of trouble, especially when they know the adults will not only buy such stories instantly, but will blame shift the cause of them missing in the jungle to the spirits automatically. The need for further investigations into the mischief done by this kids will overruled by the need to investigate the spirits instead.

Or, I won't be surprised if these kids had stumbled upon one of Toyo's secret 3.5 Million mansion tucked deep in the jungle, and upon narrating, they had thought these kids had said the word "Istana Toyol", hence the misconception of the close encounter of a spirit in the jungle.

I think the broom gave him away......wonder if this broom can actually fly..

Well, here is where I come in, trying to give more information of the spirits that allegedly rule the Malaysian Jungle. It's bad enough that we have to cope with hantus in our parliament, now we've got to take care of the hantus in our beloved jungle. Do not belittle their importance, lest during the General Elections because apparently, their votes counts too!!

Ahhh..politicians. Let us not start on them. If Natural Selection is right, then their descendants should have noses longer than their dicks.

CLICK ON RABBIT HOLE TO KNOW HOW ONE CAN EFF UP A SIMPLE TREKKING TRIP AND BLAME IT ON THE SPIRITS....

Here are some of the the ways in how a simple trekking trip can be F##up and how you can blame it on the Spirits. Firstly, there are a few basic Spirits that you may need to be aware of, understand it's nature before you can pin the crime on them.
Spirit #I : Hantu Tetek a.k.a Hantu Kopek.

Hantu kopek is known to hide people especially kids beneath their huge breasts. I can't figure out what the Breast Ghost gets out of hiding people underneath their huge breasts. The horror on the human side depends very much on what type of breasts involved as the hideout. If you get these pairs:
Then I suppose you can call it horror ghost stories. But if you get these

lovely pairs belonging to Malaysian Hantu Kopek's cousins in the western side, then what's there to complain. I'm sure even the father of the kids wouldn't mind being abducted by the cousin of Malaysian Hantu Tetek.

Here's a logical probable explanation:

1. Maybe the child just wants to get away from the hustle and bustle or even chores and went off somewhere then claim he got hidden by hantu tetek?

2. Maybe the kid fell asleep from sheer lethargy after running around in the jungle?

3. Maybe the kid found mommy and daddy's "grass", and imagined being abducted by a pair of tits?

....and they are too scared to tell their parents the truth.

I mean think about it...have you ever heard of a full grown man being hidden by the Hantu Kopek? More importantly, have you heard of a full grown man being hidden by the Hantu Kopek AND complaining? Ponder on that....

Spirit # II : Toyol.

Toyol is a creature, small and dark in complexion, trained to be a thief. It's suppose to look like the picture below:

Seriously. There are people who swear that "Once you go black, you'll never turn back", but although toyol is "black", it's small and unless he can drag his bigger than life penis around whilst orchestrating a theft, I doubt he's got the proper tool to rape anything except a squirrel.

Now, in relation to the jungle trekking, please remember to guard your belongings, especially your food. Yes, things do tend to get missing but as far as my experience takes me, it's not the Toyo or the toyol that is responsible, but THESE be the culprits!!!

Yes folks. When you camp, be aware of monkeys. They are thieves, and best yet, the Hudud Law does not apply to them. So they get to keeps their hands to resume their looting. Hmm..maybe they too have an association amongst them UmNO - United monyet N Orangutans, not to be mistaken with their parallel humanly organization, who have more use for your money, compared to their sister organization.

Scientists though, may even research the method for Biological Control of species by merely causing extinction to the monkeys simply by feeding them with information from our newspaper such Berita Harian, or Metro. The monkeys will die instantly from laughter.

Well, technically, monkeys are pests so even though Biological Control is mainly for killing insects, but it may work on humans too. I mean when Ib Ali had that massive cardiac, it must have been from a covert operation exposing him to other parties that proved to be detrimental to his health. Basically, it was attempted murder in the eyes of Biological Control methods.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out some campers had left their drinks unattended....or maybe it had just snitched some tapai...

Spirit #3 : The Exorcissers ? (whatever they call the evil spirits that causes exorcism lar).

Wait. Before I resume. Let me share with you my experience with a patient who was "possessed". They called me to attend to this lady who was supposedly possessed, (clearly they called the wrong person because all I could do at that point in time was offer her some yippee drugs, which this bloody whatever that was suppose to possess her refuse to consume....it's not like we have a tranquilizer gun or anything like that...) and many funny (to my mind,....then again, I'm not her psychiatrist) happened but I recall one that I felt the funniest. We managed to get her voluntarily into the transportation to the hospital, lying to her saying we were sending her home instead, as she refused to seek medical treatment (like duuuh). I had already managed to drug her somehow ( don't ask), and off and on, she'd ricocheted from dozing off and being alert.

Unfortunately, the van was stuck in traffic and she was asking why were we on the road that is not heading towards her home, and why it was taking too long. She said aloud in a hoarse voice which was not suppose to be hers, "Why is it taking so loooong? Why don't you just open up the windows and let me just fly home. It's faster that way". I didn't hear the silence that seized the few people who attended to her inside the van, which was narrated to me later on because I was busy giggling inside my mind.....I think these spirits must think that humans are dumb creatures..

So back to the spirits that possess human bodies. When humans get lost in the jungle, especially in high altitudes, bear in mind, that when they behave irrationally, utterly confused or start to throw tantrums, then please think exorcism as the last explanation, until you consider these options for explanation, because the former diagnosis may lead the victim to one of the politicians' bomohs and these bomohs do not have Oxygen supply other than that contained in their farts sufficient to revive a victim of:

Tadaaaaa...... Brain hypoxia; or lack of oxygen in the brain, which is one of the symptoms of AMS (Altitude Mountain Sickness) and hypoxic victims tend to mimic in actions, those who are allegedly "possessed". A word of reminder. If you see some of our politicians holding the Keris, and talking like they are possessed, it is only because they too suffer from brain hypoxia. Try giving them Oxygen via mask (keep it to 98-99%) when you see such incidences at some of our political gatherings. Don't worry, not much oxygen consumption needed as one need to possess an actual homo sapien size brain to empty half of the oxygen cylinder.

Spirit #4 : Orang Bunian :

Orang Bunian are known to abduct people especially children who are fair and pretty. Dang... I was hoping to have the whole of Hindraf and Perkasa abducted. I don't think even the Aliens would want to abduct these bunch. Well, they are known to abduct humans for the purpose of studying our brains, so enough said :-)

If people go missing in the jungle, please think of these Bunian after you think of these explanations. It could be the victim suffers from:

1. Hypothermia. One of the symptoms of hypothermia is sluggish thinking, and amnesia which I suspect to be Tun Mahathir's working diagnosis of some non progressive Malays when he said, "Melayu mudah lupa". Well, Malays are generally known to be good at playing it coooool, so cooooool that they become hypothermic followed by sluggish in thinking ( that's just science being polite by the way).

How on earth do one get hypothermia when trekking? Well, we don't realize that as we incline, the temperature drops. In Malaysia even, when it rains, it is cold in the jungle. I have trekked with a bunch of egoistic goo goos that think it's cool to trek in singlets. Showing off the muscles is great for others but at the risk of getting hypothermic. Here's a tip, and probably a life saving one. AVOID wearing cotton attires. Why? Well, cotton do not have the property to wick moist.

What this means is that, when you wear cotton T-Shirts for example, this shirt will absorb your sweat but do not radiate it out of the material. What happens next is the insidious attempt of your body to dry this sweat from your t-shirt. That's simple physics. How do things get dried? Energy from heat, which in this case comes from heat generated from our body. So we loose heat without even realizing so hence end up becoming hypothermic.

Avoid cotton socks too because for the same reason that it does not wick our sweat, and the damp socks may cause blisters on our feet. Trust me, any trekker will tell you not to underestimate even the dawn of a blister. If you have the extra cash, purchase a Gore-Tex shoe because it'll keep your feet dry. In the case of trekking in wet conditions, then don't forget to invest in a mud gear, because Gore-Tex is expensive and a great shoe but once water comes into the shoes not through it, you can kiss your dry feet bye bye. THIS is how Gore-Tex material works.

Since we're in the topic of keeping warm, do bring along the aluminium blanket for emergency warming up. I got mine from the ACE hardware store in Mid Valley Megamall. I had a guy, well, the same dodo head who wore the singlet to trek, turned smurfy on me. I handed him my emergency aluminium blanket for him to keep warm. Well, if he looked like Gerard Butler, I may have joined him in the blanket as an adjuvant treatment.

THIS is how it looks like when used and THIS is how it's packed, at the size of the palm of your hands. A word of caution. Once used, please inform others before they mistaken you for another spirit called Hantu Bungkus. Then you may not only need to warm a hypothermic victim, but probably standby to ressucitate a probable heart attack too. I think any Hantu Bungkus that fancies aluminium blankets must inherit MJ's likings for shining costumes.

2. Hypoglycemia, simply means body low in sugar. Same symptoms of confusion where trekkers are prone to make mistakes. It doesn't help that when one is lost, they tend to go around in circles. One needs to carbo load with food that has a low glycemic index. (Oh....just google it). The same group of whom I had to hand over my aluminium blanket were the same smartie pants who served mee hoon, overcooked, I just called it bubur mee hoon and would you believe what was served when we reached the top of the gunung? OMG...maggee mee!!! I kid you not. You need a steady release of sugar in the body and some knowledge on food especially carbo loading and glycemic index may carry a long way...away from "the path of the evil spirit"....

Okay, here are some other tips on how not to F up and blame it on the spirits.

1. Carry your backpack or day pack light. If you back pack and trek, then you should carry a load of between 1/3 to 1/4 of your body weight. After a while, even 1 kilo feels like 10 and you don't want to blame the spirits for pulling you from behind. So, yes, if you know your stuff well, you don't have to abide to the "Jangan Pandang Belakang" scare.

2. Notice some folks have the habit of telling others not to say out loud or "tegur" when your nostrils buds caught some foul smell? Well, don't bother getting spooked. It's probable that someone had missed their shower or have not heard of Dr Scholls. I think it's a bit ridiculous having to endure one of your friend's fart and letting him get away with it, because no one was allowed to point the obvious, in case wrath will bestow upon you. Well, you are more likely to die from the consequences of not using your brains, rather than from the spirits. I think even if they do exist, they have better things to do than to have anything to do with the arrogant human beings.

3. If you have parked your vehicle somewhere, make sure it's at a safe place. You don't want to risk the Hantu Rempits stealing your vehicle now would you?

So remember folks. Knowledge is power, especially to survive. Frankly, most of the time, I am more scared of humans with bad intentions more than I am concern about bumping into spirits in the jungle. Men can be more evil than evil himself.

Knowledge will also do the Spirits justice, as they need not burden the guilt of men's idiosyncrasy by walking into the jungle unequipted and ignorant. So remember folks, when you trek the jungle, have a check list and don't forget to bring the important things.

But most of all, don't forget your brains...do not leave home without it!!!

Tuesday morning this week turns out to be a joyful day for Malaysians. Not only we've managed to escape Monday Blues this week, but part of the joy comes from witnessing Arsenal defeating Manchester United in the Premier League, (not a big fan of Arsenal, just enjoy watching an MU defeat...any MU defeat. Come to think of it, I think MU hate club would have more fans that MU fan club.., oh but I digressed) a joy which I must say on personal note, is more meaningful than say the joy felt by some from the death of Obama bin Biden....oops....I mean, Osama Bin Laden. Or shall I say his second death?

Apparently Osama bin Ladin, who I suspect his decade of successfully evading the authorities would be made into a Block Buster movie co starring Bruce Willis in "Die Hard : The AlQaeda version", was killed in an operation by Navy Seal and the CIA, and then was buried at sea, long before anyone can say "Osama is...." .

American economy must be really bad because they finally have to pull out of Afghanistan. I mean, they don't need the illusion of the tyrant Osama bin Laden anymore right? Think about it. Aren't you curious as to how Osama bin Laden, who, "had escaped the most extensive and expensive man-hunt in history, stretching across Waziristan, the 1,500 miles of mountainous badlands on the borders of Pakistan and Afghanistan, had managed his three times a week dialysis in the caves of Afghanistan. United States should at least delayed burying his body instead of dumping it as soon as they can into the sea, for despite cultural and Islamic requirements of burying the dead a.s.a.p, I'm sure Islam would not mind reliving the "Golden Era" by allowing his body be researched in the name of science. I mean, Osama could be the first End Stage Kidney Failure patient to be able to hold on to 10 years of scarce dialysis.

Or, he could have possessed worlds first portable dialysis machine that ran on probably world's first most long standing battery life ever. Even Malaysians with our Malaysia Boleh spirit could not even imagine that such phenomenons can exist. We should even research how Osama had managed to perform all those bank transactions that supposedly have sponsored all those terrorist attacks, way deep in the caves of Afghanistan. We've already established that he used Digi mobile for all that phone calls from the caves to direct his disciples, because only Digi dare claim that they have those yellow beings following their customers everywhere.

Mainstream media agreed to go with the news that he was killed by the US and buried at sea .

Oh wow. I'm sure the CIA was thinking of enhancing the Islamic practices and traditions when they sponsored Osama bin Ladin's Al-Qaeda's struggles against the Russians some time back, albeit funny how he wasn't branded as a "terrorist" then. So I guess the definition of "terrorist" depends on who you are terrorizing.

And now he was immediately buried at sea. Why the rush? They cannot use the same air transportation to bring him back to land for a decent burial? I mean, if you're worried about carrying a terrorist in the air transportation, he's already dead, killed twice, just to be sure.

I wonder who offered the prayers at sea for his burial ceremony, since we are talking about appropriateness here. Was there a Muslim Navy Seal personnel on board, perhaps a Muslim CIA agent who managed to offer appropriate burial prayers before dumping his alleged body into sea.

Well, he was already dead sometime back somewhere between 2001 and 2002 and you can read the articles HERE, HERE and what the heck.. HERE. Last but certainly not least, HERE's an interesting article from my favourite journalist/author Robert Fisk. Fisk did mention he did not see Osama after the year 2001. 9/11...revisited...again...and again...

I have always been intrigued by the mystery surrounding the event of 9/11. Before we proceed beyond this point, let me make it clear to you that my interest is purely in uncovering the truth. As far as I'm concern, all life form is sacred and any average Joe with the interest for the truth can agree that the world have since changed after this tragedy, and not in a good way. Humanity died , yet again on that very day. Many innocent lives have been given up thereon in the name of "holy war" or "war against terrorism".

My prayers and well wishes are for all the victims of 9/11, be you in that building that day or the innocent lives that were sacrificed in the subsequent events pertaining to that black day of humanity. Because of that tragedy, many more lives, innocent lives, were sacrificed in wars that did not even justify the event of 9/11 itself. You were all a part of a bigger plan. Unfortunately, this plan was... I mean, is, not that of the higher being but by a group of war mongers who feed their very tummies and the tummies of their families with blood money and surrounded themselves with worldly riches yielded from this very tragedy that took your lives away from your loved ones. May justice find you in the here after. In the mean time, may the living seek the justice in truth until we all join you.

Now. Tell me how such terms can ever make sense to the human brains? "Holy War". There is nothing holy about wars. There is nothing holy about killing your own kind. In fact, there is nothing holy about killing. If you have to go to war to defend yourself and the people you love, then it may be noble, but remotely, holy. Somewhere somehow along the lines of "holy wars", "war against terrorism", "mother of all wars" whatever, innocent lives are taken, and 99.9% of time, these lives do not comprise of that from the royalty, or those powerful people who instigated and insisted that the war was necessary or important in the first place. Most of the powerful people who insisted that war is necessary ended up not dying from war they help created, but from a rich man's disease such as a heart attack.

When a person blows himself up to bits, did he know that he was going to make innocent children from innocent fathers and mothers bystanders become orphans? Or was he thinking of the promised 99 virgins he was going to have halal sex all day long with when pushed that button? The world lacked virgins, what made him think that there would be more in heaven?

Frankly, when any war happens, it's more like "Holy Shit" bullshit more than it is a "Holy War"....

"War against Terrorism" . Now what in the name of cow's dung does that mean? You destroy terrorism by inflicting bigger terror ? So what does that make you? A certified Terrorist? Really, can someone tell me what the fish it means, this war on terrorism. I'm sure people like Gandhi would wonder, if anyone wants to die for a good cause, why not just fast to death to prove a point? I don't think Bush could have handled even half day of fasting though. He did not make sense with a normal blood glucose level, imagine what blunder, I mean, bigger blunder, he may have done with a low blood sugar in the brain. Then again, rumours has it he hired surrogate brains to do his job whilst he was off golfing half the time when he was in office.

What prompt me to rekindle my 9/11 research? It started when my eyes were feasted upon this article published this month, which originated from a 2009 article by Gordon Duff in Veteran Today.

Turned out, the conspiracy theorists theories were right - that Osama bin Laden was long dead before his ghosts started appearing on videos come political elections. Somehow rather reminds me how the syyyyyyyyyyyy...May 13th tragedy would float during our elections. Here are some articles back in 2001 that reported the "possible death" of Osama bin Laden. Frankly, I would really like to purchase Osama's dialysis machine that had been able to operate somewhere deep in the caves of Afghanistan and do justice to some of the patients suffering from End Stage Renal Failure because of it's durability not to mention the long battery operating capacity since 2001 when Osama had failed to turn up for his scheduled three times a week dialysis.

Meanwhile, many wars had been waged whilst they debated, "To decease or not to decease, is the Question" game. Many lives lost. Many hearts broken. Innocent lives. Innocent hearts. Just like Smeagol, his fickle mindedness had it's cascades of detrimental consequences.

Then they debated the authenticity of the videotapes released. BBC ran an article on video threat. Take not that this was going on since 2002. The U.S "experts" said the video is authentic, but the Swiss "experts" claimed it was not. Later the Swiss refused to verify other videos pertaining to Osama Bin Laden. Frankly, Swiss makes great pocket knives, chocolates and their watches have excellent time precision. U.S on the other hand, makes war and they had gotten good at it according to George Carlin. So I'd vote for those Swiss boys.

CBC ran a documentary on a movement comprising of Architects and Engineers who in 2006 decided to run an independent investigation on 9/11. It resulted in overwhelming evidence that 9/11 was an inside job.

They needed Osama bin Laden to remain "alive" , illusive ,un-captured, lost and undiscovered to enable them to wage the wars they already did, which never could have been waged had Osama been captured. The convenience came from ransacking the nations they wanted to ransack, in the pretext of looking for him. Did they know that he was dead back in 2001? Maybe, maybe not. Safest Sex is No Sex....especially for mosquitoes

You know how people like to say things like, "People who don't know how to use the public toilet should not be allowed to breed" ? You and I know that toilets in Malaysia not only is a perennial, but also a peri-anal problem, so not allowing these species to breed sounds quite logical. Scientists however, have not come up with ways to covertly make this happen to humans without them volunteering...yet... but the same cannot be said to the mosquito species.

Humans may suffer from narcissism and should be renamed megalomaniac-sapiens, claiming that we are the superior species ever to walk on the surface of the earth, but mosquitoes have long proven that they are more superior in a sense that they are more potent than our weapon of mass destruction, (which i reckon how Bush is passing his retirement time looking for) in killing the human species and not softly too. Bearing detrimental diseases such as dengue, yellow fever and malaria, humans have been terminated by the dozens of hundreds...

Just like the Irish and Bhai jokes, we make jokes pertaining to these blood suckers. Here's one:

"What is the difference between a mosquito with a briefcase and a lawyer? Answer: the briefcase".

So okay, that one was more for the lawyers, but you get what i mean. On hindsight, we doctors are blood suckers too. We draw blood from patients and the actual blood sucking takes place when we start charging.

But make no mistake about it, these species that we deem pests can take away our loved ones.

Science have moved on beyond mosquito coils, Baygon sprays and mosquito netting etc. Science have managed to come up with alternative methods to somehow curb mosquitoes from breeding.
Yes, while the Muslims are busy using our pseudo-creativity on ways to terminate human beings via orthodox methods used in stone ages, for example stoning adulterers to death (well, can't blame them for the lack of creativity to think outside the box...there were ample stones...just sitting there begging to be disposed..... ), the infidels are blessed with the freedom from mental curbing and have the liberty to actually use the god gifted brains to research on more useful things like how to kill mosquitoes who kill humans. Now, if THAT is not HUMANity, tell me what else is.

Basically amongst the ongoing experiments are :

1. Scientist looking for methods to intercept mosquito's' foreplay. How rude is that?

Do you know that mosquitoes make music to a specific synchronized note as part of their foreplay? I didn't know either. These mosquitoes literally make music with their wings, in synchrony to that of their sexual partners , a way for them asking, "Hey baybee, your place or mine? And I thought they were just being annoying. Perhaps the Singaporean government may benefit from observing the mosquitoes sexual habits and learn how to utilize music as part of their governmental initiative to increase their population. Something else noteworthy - the next time you hear your dog howling for no apparent reason, it's probably because they hear the musical foreplay of the sound of mosquitoes trying to bunk each other, and got horny too.

Also, don't forget to remember that when you break the mosquito's wings, you're actually depriving it of sex too. That is probably why there is a hadith on breaking both wings of insects when it falls into the water, to okay the drinking whilst the insect with both broken wings is still within it. This is to not just ensure, but double ensure that we are drinking pure/suci (from any form of sexual activities) water. Otherwise, I cannot for the life of me think of any other sound reason for this habit. I also cannot help but wonder how the tone deaf mosquitoes have sex though..questions...questions. So now, scientists are looking for ways to somehow de-synchronize the harmony of the mating tune, to what we Malaysians call, "potong steam". Well, I've always said that "The safest sex is no sex. That is why sex after marriage is safe, because the couple hardly have sex after marriage", but of course this is but another topic that does not concern the mosquitoes.

This experiment is on going. I can imagine the scientists working on how to throw off these mosquitoes' wing music, albeit I have a suggestion...THIS VIDEO may help these scientist?...talk about loony tunes eh... I won't be surprised if these male mosquitoes may even join the monastery after listening to this particular video :-)

You see, the ulama wasn't joking when they say music can lead to sex ergo the haram fartwa...(or was it dancing can lead to sex?)... hmm...P. Ramlee may be singing "Getaran Jiwa", but these ulamas have long suspected (or maybe through their personal experience), that some anatomical parts of the humans may be vibrating harmoniously as they set into foreplay without intention, when they hear saaaaay...Lady Gaga sing "Alejandro".

Hello!! How could the earlier scientists even thought that it was the female mosquitoes that were deaf!!! I think it's the male in ALL species that have listening problems!!

"By studying these flight tone signals, we may be able to determine what kind of information males and females consider important when choosing a mate," said co-first author Lauren Cator, a Cornell graduate student who works with Harrington. "This will allow us to release 'sexy' transgenic or sterilized males that will be able to successfully compete with wild populations."

.... well, at least we know that within the mosquito world, size does not seem to matter....

To conclude, since Jakim, Jais dan kawasan kawasan yang sewaktu dengannya have almost always been intrigued by sex, I suggest that instead of wasting tax payers' money hounding the couples on Valentine's Day, why not spend some money studying sex amongst mosquitoes. Who knows, someday they may well live up to their pay by finally serving humanity by doing what they best do, prohibiting sex that has no certification.

2. Scientist who have already established a method to encourage female mosquitoes to have sex with sterile (genetically modified) mosquitoes instead of the fertile wild male mosquitoes. In fact thousands of GM (genetically modified...) mosquitoes were released somewhere in Grand Caymen Islands somewhere in the Caribbean (sterile sex in the Caribbeans..and a smoke afterwords) and they have managed to decrease the Aedes Aegypti population by 80%. Hmm...remind me why this reminds me of Singapore again? You can read it the article in April issue of Scientific American titled Outsmarting Dengue Fever.

Using Biological Control, Scott O'Neill of University of Queensland and his colleagues have been trying to curb the breeding of dengue by genetically modifying male Aedes mosquitoes making them sterile. (and by sterile, I do not mean dipping these male mosquitoes into a bowl of spirit, although if by "spirit" we mean tapai-like substances, then perhaps I have just found a more interesting experiment on mosquitoes which I would like to call "Mojito-ed Mosquito"). An excerpt from "Outsmarting Dengue Fever" :

"In December, British biotechnology company Oxitec released 6000 genetically modified male mosquitoes in Malaysia to the alarm of some groups that expressed concern about the possible effects of GM insects on humans and ecosystems. Results are not available yet"

Finally, Malaysia gets to be mention in an international magazine pertaining to sexual issues that is not embarrassing it's citizens. Thank god mosquitoes don't use mattresses, or Omega watches not to mention carrying around with them the registration cards. The "groups expressing concern about the effects of GM insects on humans and ecosystems" would probably be amongst a few; Perkasa, Hindraf , BN, and probably PAS (with it's 'propagating forth to Islamize the world via hereditary program ergo causing ecosystem imbalance ) only because they probably don't appreciate other species pissing on their trees.

In Malaysia, the results for the same experiment they did in the Caribbean is pending though. Being a Malaysian and cannot help but be infected by irony and pessimism. I suspect the cause of delay may be confusion amongst the scientists as they may have yielded the right results although not up to expectations, but through a process not clearly understood, leaving the scientists bewildered ergo the delay in announcing the results. This is because the tendency of male of any species, to turn bisexual in Malaysia is higher, especially if he is a politician and when the time is close to any form of election. So instead of having sex with the untampered female Aedes Aegypti, these GM (genetically modified) male species would probably turn bisexual and also have sex amongst themselves if not with the "wild male" species who before their encounter with these GM, never knew that they were bisexuals/gays, depriving the female mosquitoes of frequency of sex, but not decreasing chances in pregnancy each time they have sex. In short, these female species would be left to wonder "wtf?"...Love Hurts I guess..

Of coz there are ecological balancing issues that need to be studied and addressed when we introduce a genetically tampered species into the ecosystem or when we cause extinction of certain species. Funny how this discussion do not arise when the humans kill our own species in the name of God, genetic material which was believed to be more superior than the rest, race , political ideology etc. Or funny when we humans breed and breed and breed into the ecosystem in order to take advantage of democracy. Aren't these disrupting the ecosystem? We only care for our species when they are dead,not so much when they are alive, how ironic is that?
